My 93 SE Sport (again)
Discussion
Thought I'd start a new thread on my 93 seeing as I can't find my original (and my photobucket has changed so all the pics are gone anyway)
Besides the point it lay off the road damaged after an accident for about a year and a half, so this is technically the second time round
So basically this is my 93 SE sport HOT purchased for the princely sum of £450. My thought was at that price, if I bought it and it was a shed i'd make that back in parts alone.
The SE sports came with the B204R engine which made 200bhp instead of the standard FPT at 185bhp
First picture taken after a 400 mile drive home on which it never missed a beat

And after a damn good clean

I did a stage 2 map for starters with just a replacement backbox which provided these results

I've since put on a 3" downpipe and a stage 3 map which raised it to 280bhp, which is really stretching the little T25 turbo and was starting to suffer heat soak on the standard intercooler
It stayed like that for a few months, until I had a mishap when a biker ran out of talent and caused a 3 car accident damaging my O/S wing and door. So the car lay off the road until I could find a wing and door for a coupe (a lot harder than you'd think) Which is a shame as it was looking pretty good at this point

Luckily enough I stumbled across a black 2002 coupe in the scrapyard with good doors and wings (and a bonus carbon effect dash surround) so it found its way back on the road without any problems.
Gratuitous arty (sort of) shot after being repaired

It was at this point I noticed the clutch was getting a bit iffy. So I ordered a Viggen replacement (stronger pressure plate) and got a free weekend to fit it...while I was there I decided to drop the sump and clean the pick up pipe etc while the subframe was off (got new lower arms and drop links etc as well)

Fitted some vented 300mm rear discs/pads/calipers from a 9-5 Aero to balance out the 308mm front brake upgrade already on the front (some different wheels too with new Uniroyal rainsport 3's fitted) excuse the primered arch, it's on the to do list

My latest task has been to fit the bigger intercooler and inlet pipe. here's the trial fit

And the (almost) final fit, which I'm very happy with as I had to do no cutting on the bumper at all

The next step involves a 19T hybrid turbo a new downpipe set up and some Z20LEH injectors

Nice, I really like this. I would quite like one as a daily driver to run alongside my 9000. I've had a few Saabs and lost faith in the newer ones. I had a convertible before of a similar age and loved it. The OG 9-3 coupe seems quite rare now!
I have a 9000 to run alongside this one (an Anniversary in midnight blue) which is unfortunately in need of a subframe at the moment...I did look at newer ones for a daily (a TTID aero to be precise) but hearing horror stories with the 1.9 engines etc put me off.Bit of a while since an update
Got fed up of the Tiddly T25 and got myself a turbo technics hybrid turbo and some injectors from a 1993 9000 aero, and spent a weekend fitting them
The turbo was a 'mare to fit as it was meant for a 9000 and so was clocked differently and all the water/oil lines had to be modified but it got there
T25

Some FOD

Halfway there

Don't worry about the cable ties and the wires, it's been neatened up now

The only problem I was having was massive overboost till the fuel cut kicked in....tried several different boost control valves and all the same. Gave up and ran it at low boost for a week on the original trionic 5 valve. Traced it to faulty MOSFETS in the already trionic 7 converted ECU I had, so soldered up a fresh ECU and threw a 1 bar base map onto it....perfect boost control
Now I just need to find my spare 3 bar map sensor so I can turn the wick up to 1.6/1.7 bar
