Apologies if it's been covered before but it's just a fleeting thought.

I've had a few loans/store cards/cc's over the last 5/6 years and I've been hearing a lot about these PPI claims. I'm wondering, are there any companies out there that actually do these checks for you, without sort of scamming/pestering you daily with calls etc?

I'm probably not owed anything + I don't remember far back enough to check it myself, so just wondering if all these PPI companies are just con artists or is it worth me looking into them?

They arnt "con artists" they just take a cut of any refund due.

Its easy to look into yourself though, just use a template from someone like Martin Lewis and send it off to everyone you've ever held a product with.

I've just done mine, a colleague at work did theirs and then recommended the place to me, all of their work comes through recommendations, they don't advertise or cold call.
I've been self employed for 20 years and always declined it if i took a loan or credit card so I was surprised to find a couple of loans come back as having had PPI added. I got about £2300, not the biggest amount by any means (another colleague got £10k back!) and I'll end up with just over £1500 after they've taken their fees off.
I've no problem with their cut, the process was painless and there was no form filling, just a few forms to sign and send back, took 5 mins max.
I get a £20 Amazon voucher if I recommend them so if you want their details then PM me. I realise I probably sound like a PPI salesman but I genuinely am not smile
