Shiny happy (bald) people
Discussion
Hi,
After years of using clippers to cut my hair to a 1 or a 2 and pretending it looked good, I have finally bitten the bullet and shaved my head. The issue is that my head feels dry after, yet looks shiny. And if I put aftershave balm on, my head looks shinier than a snooker ball.
(the situation hasn't been help by today's weather, I'm pretty sure my head is sunburnt now as well.
Does anyone have any hints on how to keep my head not so shiny, and any other tips for being a baldy will be gratefully received.
Thanks

have you tried using clippers with no guard? so effectively it is just the blades, gets it a bit shorter than a no.1 and once done wash your head with normal shampoo, this is what I do and have no problems with dryness.
P.S Don't use soap on your head
I probably need to get some proper balding clippers. It's not so much the dryness though, it's the shine. I don't use soap either, have made that mistake once, never again!P.S Don't use soap on your head

Rule of thumb, if you shave head wet, it'll shine after! If you don't want the top of head shiny, do it dry with an electric. A philishave will follow the contours best. You only need the cheapest one!
Sunblock the top of your head quite soon after hitting the sun, it'll burn very quickly.

Proper DE safety razor wet shave? Shouldn't need anything more than a quick glide over with alum block. I use 'bare' clippers too. Still looks neat, stops the shininess.
Occasionally I go full wet blade shave which I don't mind too much, but you're right in that it goes like this
Day 0 - Shiny but oh-so-smooooth
Day 1-3 - Like velcro whenever your head touches any material etc.
Day 4 onward - Just like if I'd used the Wahl
With bare clippers with the blade adjusted as close as possible I get pretty much a week between cuts. Other advantage is that I don't have to even use a mirror, I can just rattle it round my head for 5 minutes and know it's done.

Wahl balding clippers. I'm lucky to have a full head of hair but I like to keep it short - properly short. Wahl balding clippers with the guard off is about a halfway between a wet shave and normal clippers with the guard off. Gives a real velcro head effect. I do mine down to the wood once a week, but my hair grows really quickly so I might start doing twice a week.
