No, not just Mike Rutherford's latest moans but...

A motorist who ran himself over after being shown how to "hot wire" his car by an RAC patrolman has won £1,000 in an out-of-court settlement.

His solicitors argued that the motoring organisation, which did not accept liability, had been negligent in showing how to start the vehicle. He said he had asked for a courtesy vehicle to take his wife June to the doctor but was told it was not policy.

An RAC spokesman said the patrolman had shown Mr Liptrot the procedure, but advised him to get the car properly repaired before the incident in February last year.

He added: "Mr Liptrot confirmed at the time that the patrol advised him to ensure that he followed the correct procedure when starting the vehicle, which was to ensure it was parked with its handbrake on and gears in neutral, before attempting this method of starting the engine."

So let me get this right. After being advised to do the right thing, he ignored the advice, got hurt and won.

What a surprise....

And then as an operative of what they like to think of themselves as "the Fourth emergency service" did the patrolman scrub up and administer medical attention, c'os he,s bound to get done for that as well
