I've had the Griff for 8 months now and I quite regularly check the oil level.

When I first got it, predictably, the oil level was at the top of the dip-stick. 8 months in and it's still at the top end. The dealer that sold me the car said that Griff's drink a fair bit of oil, so I was expecting to have to be constantly filling it up.

What's other people's experience?

I used to only add about a litre between services.

The SuperBatty used to tell me that the more you used the RV8 the less oil it'd drink.

I have special terms with Mobil now I've moved to the Speed 6

How many miles have you covered in the 8 months and what oil is in your Griff'?

My 4.3 seemed to cover around 2000 to a litre of Mobil 1. Now I have switched to Castrol R.S. 10/60 so slightly heavier grade and expect oil consumption to drop slightly.

It also depends upon your driving style and type of traffic density. For me I drive like an old pharrt, cos thats what I am and traffic in Suffolk is very light, its all country roads or A12.

I've done about 2000 miles (it's a weekend car). Can't remember what oil it is (I'm at work) - the car's a 1999 500.

Bllody hell! Ours is used daily and it uses about 1/2 litre per 1,000 miles. It is a Taraka and uses Silkolene Pro R fully synthetic (15/50).

I've had my Griff for about 9 months now, done about 7,000 miles, and used probably 2-3 litres for top-ups, plus one service. Doesn't seem to go down overly quickly, but they're all different, depends on their upbringing

Exactly the same although is fully balanced by V8D rather than Taraka .... no induction upgrades ..yet

Uses the same amount of oil, some more for sustained high speed work going through france etc ... more when I really explore the performance envelope ..

Check Wol every time before I start him up. Top up as necessary, so far, total usage outside services has been about 5.5 litres in 10,000 miles. Usage has dropped significantly since change to 15/40W Mobil 1 oil.

LOL. I can happily say that the SuperBatty is correct. I keep a good eye on the oil having been told that they do drink a bit, but I've not yet cracked the seal on the spare bottle yet!

We've only done 5k miles in the last 6 months though - we're obviously not using it enough!

The thing uses more water than oil
