My main beam seem's to have given up the ghost. It's done it before, but when I put the steering lock full on, it's started working again, so I'm presuming it's the ribbon.

To confirm this, I've tested the fuse, but the relay (space no. 11) has three connections, 49,49a & 31 with no markings.

Does anyone know the connections, permanent pos, permanent neg, switched pos, switched neg etc ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Does it not work now with lock on?

You could find out the terminals using a multimeter. The one with high resistance will be the coil, I think!

Thanks Extra, sorted it now, 31 was pos, 49 was neg & 49a was a switched neg, strange because I thought everything on a car was switched pos.

Relay's o.k., I guess the steering ribbon needs replacing.

No it does'nt.

Poxy little wire on the back of the main beam button.

18 months ownership & it's the first thing that hasn't cost me £40+ per hour to put right

I knew that soldering iron kit from christmas 84' would come in handy one day.

I was going to put, "maintained regardless of cost" in my advert, but I feel a bit of a fraud now.
