11 year springer, spayed now not herself

Hi all

Mother in law's 11 year old springer has been spayed this year and since then she has been permanently hungry and thirsty with a very dry nose. She'll drink litres of water at a time for instance.

Is this normal or has the vet cocked up? Been back to the vets and they can find nothing wrong.

Not necessarily a cock up, but I'd be concerned about those changes, particularly the water intake. I presume they've checked for infections and diabetes?

Personally, I think I'd be going back to the vets.

Why was she spayed so late on? Were blood tests done first.

Nothing springs to mind to suggest the 'vet has cocked up' but there are increased risks re anaesthetics in older patients such as renal function.

Make sure the Vet understands your concerns before changing.
