Yesterday afternoon I'm sure I saw a C17 on approach to Gatwick, I've no idea who it belonged to so does anyone else have more info?

It was a rendition flight, Tony Blair was inside strapped to the floor in a set of orange overalls......You can but wish.

I was some distance away and only saw its profile so it's possible it was that

Also made a low approach in the Blackbushe last night.
Believed to be some sort of training flight.

It's a Qatar Air force Plane that has been seconded to the "Amiri Flight" which is a VIP airline for the Royal Family of Qatar. As such they are painted as Qatar Airways.

Just had one fly over low here (Clacton), never seen one before. What a beast! Strange goings on with the 'ten Tucanos' I saw the other day

The Qatari one comes into Manchester fairly frequently. Think that pic earlier in the thread was at Manchester?

It was on route to Brize Norton after landing. Not the Qatari one, according to my acquaintances in the know, it was a repatriation flight.

The Qatari C-17 was probably bringing in horses for Goodwood.

Interesting - I'm routing through Doha tomorrow to Johannesburg - my first time on Qatar airlines. Will keep a look out for it, I had no idea there were non-military operators of the C-17.

It's still a military aircraft, operated and based out of Al Udeid. Just used by the Royal flight and painted and in a fantastic colour. Heavy paint though as it can't carry as much as a regularly painted one.
