Drivers Side Wing Mirror

I am on my second Chimaera now and have noticed the same thing on both.

The dirver's side wing mirror can be adjusted so that the miror houseing sits on one of two settings (either "in" or further "out"). The problem is that the glass moves electronically and the range of movement is not quite enough to get the glass in an ideal position no matter which of the two positions for the mirror housing I use.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way of adjusting it?

My mirrors don't like going up and down. I think its the joystick switch in the door, as it only 'clicks' on left and right (although its gone up and down occasionally).

Am I doing something wrong, or should I check it out?

Try "helping" the glass a bit further over with your fingertips.. also I found that you could get more L-R movement with the glass basically in the middle of the "Up/Down" region too, so try adjusting that first. If that fails you can change the whole ange of attack of the mirror by rotating the whole stem around (effectively tightening or loosening the thread into the door) this will re-position where click "one" and "two" are... go gently though as you don't want to snap your tripod. !!

As for a vibrating mirror.. at a guess, one of the three "legs" in the tripod has cracked.. either that or the mirror is a bit loose..

My reply on This Thread should give you the answer.

Its all about the grub screw that holds the mirror body in place on the screw-in bush and it can be a frustrating PIA to get right! Good luck.

Indeed.. I was trying to suggest a method without resorting to slacking off the little screw and re-tightening it.. be aware that on my last chim it was not possible to expose the head of the grubscrew without unscrewing the mirror from the door quite a long way (and to do that you need to disconnect the plug connector behind the speaker in the door and ensure the cable doesn't twist up)
