Wooden Dashboard

The wooden dashboard has several cracks around the heater controls and fuel guage/clock etc. Also, the piece below the radio has also now split.

Does anyone knwo where I can get these pieces replaced and how much it will cost?

For general info, this can happen when the cockpit gets humid from using excess heat [hairdrier] to dry carpets with a coled lid, or moisture leaching out of the carpets in warm weather.

Watch out as the weather sunnies up!

I called London Carriage Craft. It seems that you send in the old panels and they fix them and send them back. The main dash plus the bit round the radio costs £303 inc VAT and P&P.

The tricky bit is getting the old panels off and reattaching them afterwards. London Carriage Craft doesn't know how to do this. Has anyone had a go?

You could always replace it with an aluminium dash, as some others have.

do a google search for "chimeara dash removal" and there is a good report + photos available which I've printed off ready to do mine next weekend...

It's a ballache of a job and some of the little LEDs will break, so if you DIY, you need to have some spares of them before you start, or you will be waiting ages to reassemble the dash properly.

The dashes come off, are then sent to whoever you use to refurb and come back 6-7 working days later. So your car will be off the road for a while.

I can recommend somebody in the Midlands and somebody in Yorkshire to do the job (where are you?), but you are looking at a labour charge of 5-7 hours usually.
