Strava Experts - Split Ride
Discussion
Looking for some help on how to record a ride for Strava.
My commute is about 35 miles, its a bit much all the time, so I cheat and get a train for about 15 miles in the middle - trouble is how do I record this on my Garmin for Strava numbers.
I press stop when I get to the station - and then resume when I get off the train. Garmin connect / training peaks show the correct distances but Strava draws a straight line between the stop / resume and adds the distance in.
You can crop rides but only from each end - you can't chop the middle out. I can obviously record them as different activities but that just cloggs up the feed with a lot of activities when its only really one.
Any suggestions? I don't want to have to download GPX / edit all the time - am I missing something simple?

I have never seen a strava activity that wasn't contiguous - I have seen the straight line thing you get when it can't record your position for a period though. It always seems to assume you're going to ride all the way and not have a break in the middle. I think you're stuck with two activities for your commute.
I think with Strava, you just have to accept the limitations and record as two separate rides.
I thought I could be clever and record the start and end of my commute on one, but, just like you, I get a straight line from Marylebone to High Wycombe.
Does wonders for your average speed though...
