Advise on specialist garage warrantee please

Looked,tried left deposit on 12c yesterday. Specialist top car garage offering "comprehensive " warrentee through their regular warranted company. Not cheap, circa £4000 for three years. Anyone with experience of this type on a 12 C please.

At a guess there's a reason McLaren charge about £ 3500 for theirs which suggests the limits on the one you have been offered will be very low

McLaren is £3,500 pa. If you want it and buy through someone else you have to wait 3 months and pay an additional £700 for an inspection. There is an RAC warranty but only specialist dealer applied, is it this one? This only covers for up to £5,000 per claim and I know some owners who have this and all repairs are at McLaren and they are happy with it.

If you are worried about the gearbox it is not very common for them to go. The issue is the manufacturer (Graziano, same as Aston martin supplier) will not allow McLaren to fix them. A replacement re-conditioned unit is approx £27k, all that usually goes are some seals. With the McLaren warranty this is covered, with the RAC not if its £5k max.

However John Thorne (Thorney Motorsport) has now fixed a few of the gearboxes that have needed repairing for circa £2k, depending on issues. Speak to John about this but a lesser warranty with the comfort that John can fix the the gearbox could be an alternative to the costly McLaren warranty.
