The Viking Challenge

This challenge involves four sets of rowing, with each set doubling the distance of the previous one. You should think of each set as a mini-race, requiring a maximal, all-out, full-Viking effort to complete.
•Set 1 – 125 meters
•Set 2 – 250 meters
•Set 3 – 500 meters
•Set 4 – 1000 meters

Rest periods between sets should be equal to the amount of time it took to complete the set. So if it takes you 1:53 seconds to complete 500M in set 3, your rest period before set 4 would be 1:53 seconds. As the sprints increase in duration, so do the rest periods.
I found it tough, especilly at the end... but I haven't rowed for a while... or i'm a wimp, whatever.

Next months C2 CTC could be done along those lines - its a 100/200/300/400m row, although the way its being worked out is potentially very confusing.

You'd need some serious discipline to do this viking row. Could only realistically be done with a PM4/5, as you'd need the "undefined intervals" option. Or do it with a PM3 and guess at your potential pace.

Definitely fun, although my personal favourite still has to be the tabata - 8x20s, 10s rest.

That's horrible on the treadmill, I can't imagine the pain on a rower.

Yeah figuring out the mins was an odd one, the rower I have access to is a classic concept 2. I really had to just watch the timer, then since I was running the timer on my fitbit, look over and see its like 26 seconds, so add 26 seconds to the time on the fitbit, reset the concept2 then when the time was right on the fitbit, get back to it. And rince and repeat.

10/20 etc...tough - the treadmill I have access to has no where decent to hang on and its a little wide to do that - I tried but I just had visions of tripping and falling.
