Each to their own! I'm a bit weirded out by how similar Neil Hannon sounds at times to the man himself.

No, I didn't think that was even slightly necessary. And sadly Mr Cell just dragged it down several more levels… frown

Marc Almond seemed to be somewhat carrying the orchestra, who seemed to be making it up as they went along.

If anyone saw the beginning, it started out at "Do not EVER delete this from the Sky box" but rapidly veered off towards "put it on in the bedroom and see whether I nod off".

Lots of interesting views on Twitter #BowieProm

I missed the first 10-15 minutes, but what I have watched has been really, really bad.

It started with an arrangement of Warszawa, then Neil "close your eyes and it's Bowie" Hannon doing Station to Station, but it's gone downhill since and not recovered. Real shame.

They seem to be totally incapable of playing anything other than "an avant-garde arrangement of..." or, as the compére just said, a re-writing. I thought this was supposed to be about David Bowie, not musical arrangers.

I'm going to remember the name Jherek Bischoff so I can avoid him at all costs in the future.

Least emotional and weakest version of "Heroes" ever.

It just got a lot worse. Who would have ever thought to do this to always crashing in the same car. FFS. Time for the off button.

They're bloody lucky they didn't get Adele, Kanye, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Gary Barlow, 1 Direction.

I think it's been very interesting overall, but rap tt can fk off, and Marc Almond wasn't very good.

You mean you've never seen Bowie's own performance on TOTP? Singing over a TOTP Orchestra backing track, terrible.

Difference is, John Cale is in charge of the arrangement, instruments and vocals. Playing it (relatively) straight. Or if not straight then it is at least recognisable.
