If you have a propshaft to hand (T5 gearbox) and have a digital vernier/micrometer could you measure the diameter of the bit that slides into the back of the gearbox please?

due to overwhelming response to plan A I've come up with plan B

Anyone within a reasonable distance of Redditch got a prop shaft off at the moment that I could come and measure?

I thought yesterday I couldn't help as my engine is out but gearbox is in.

Thinking about it, my exhaust is off so I can probably measure the tail end of the prop.

I will jack it up and check.

thanks Peter, would appreciate confirmation.

If anyone is wondering, the problem I have is with a T5 box fitted by a previous owner into my Taimar. If I get hold of the front yoke of the propshaft I can feel movement (up and down) where it goes into the gearbox. First thought was the bearing in back of the box must be worn but before I start stripping it down I just wondered if the propshaft yoke was either very worn (that should show as a step I guess when I get it out), or the wrong one for that gearbox?
strangely, despite the movement, the oil seal is not leaking? Unless of course the bearing is worn because no oil is getting down to there!

I do however have horrendous transmission vibration, hoping that sorting this issue will cure it scratchchin

Just seen this thread PP. I'm just off to work, but will measure mine when I get back tonight.
