So putting passenger window up under no strain or load and some nasty noises from door and window goes down again. I stupidly tried again and it sounds as though the motor isn't engaging properly as if there are a couple of bits of grit in there somewhere.

Returned home and window now seems to be disengaged from motor mechanism??

Any ideas oh knowledgable forum gurus? Or any ideas from anyone really??

Thanks in advance.....

New window regulator usually sorts it.

Thanks - been googling and doesn't seem a massive job...

Probably not. There's a membrane over the door that often gets replaced as part of the job. Last one I had done (on a 997) was about £500.

It's not a very complicated mechanism-the steel cable in mine snapped. A part of it got a bit rusty.

The waterproof membrane can be reused if you remove it very carefully- just find an appropriate sealant to put it back on with. Door trim comes off easily enough (except for the bit at the handle). Airbag needs removed too so disconnect the battery.

Took me 3 hrs or so to replace the mechanism
