Anyone know what the rules are regarding taking rubbish through restaurants?

Went to a decent restaurant today and watched the staff wheel the big wheelie bins through the restaurant that had been out all night - the people doing it were wearing their Chef uniforms and touching the bins.

Not usually a health and safety freak however looked disgusting - always thought they weren't allowed to take outside bins or rubbish through a place that was preparing and serving food?

Any idea?

Mods will probably move this however my O/H, who is a former EHO says it's a no-no to take waste bins through from the back.

Just the fact the restaurant has done this during service would concern me. Odd attitude to think that'd be OK!

Agree, very odd. Especially considering the restaurant.

I think I would stop going to a restaurant that did this.

Was in a Pizza Hut the other day - server came in, peed, and went out without washing his hands! Raised the point with his manager, as we walked out before our order arrived.

At uni I worked in a restaurant and one of the barmen got fired for that. He always refused to use the staff toilets because he didn't see why customers should get special treatment over staff.

I don't think he was cut out for catering and hospitality.....

I had to kick a supervisor's arse for doing something similar in a food factory not very long ago. It's bad practice. Outside bins stay outside, inside bins are cleaner and when they are full you remove them, empty them in the outside bin, come back, wash hands, done. Whether you go outside in your whites depends on your overalls policy.

Barca in Castlefield, Manchester. Most times when I walk by at lunch, all the chefs are outside sharing a spliff.

I was in Bundobust in Leeds- a veggie Indian restaurant. actually very nice food. All very hipster though and craft beers.

Fortunately or not, after we'd eaten, I was in the w.c.

Caught a member of staff urinating in the sinks because he couldn't be bothered to wait for a stall.

Didn't Mick Hucknall have something to do with this place?

Had some great nights in there when I worked in Manchestersmile

Possibly. It's crap now. I only pop in for a pint if I can't make it the further 50 yards to Duke's biggrin

I think that's dreadful, they must be really badly paid to have to share and not have one each.

Not sure anything can beat the time was at a bar in Canary Wharf and seeing one of their chefs walk in, go for a lash in the urinal, then wash his twig and berries whilst standing at the urinal by leaning over to the sink to splash water/soap on it, maybe its a cultural thing I'm not aware of?

Went to Zizzys in Katherines Dock and they had a huge grey open bin in the restaurant next to the coffee machine with dinner tables less that 2 feet away. The Barista kept banging the coffee grounds out on the side of the bin every 2 minutes.

I was sick as a dog four hours later, the food was atrocious.

Can I ask where should they put the coffee grounds? What do you expect them to do? Plus thats all it usually holds... grounds.
