B7 RS4 & Uniroyal RS3
Discussion
Has anyone any experience of running their RS4 on the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 in 255/35/19 96Y XL? Interested to hear anyones thoughts if they have.
I'm very tempted to go for them as they generally seem to get very good reviews and the F1 Autocentre are doing them at £108 per tyre fully fitted which makes them really good value in my book for 19's.
But I have read mixed reviews about the soft sidewalls on them (hardly any reviews mind from RS4 owners), although I'd hope it wouldn't apply to the XL tyres.
Cheers.

I doubt theres much wrong with them on run of the mill cars but i wouldnt put anything but premium performance tyres on something like an RS4. Theres one thing that keeps you and your 414hp from ending up in a hedge... Goodyear Eagle F1's assymetric 2/3 are excellent and not a lot more than rainsports.
I had them on S4 and with quattro all weel drive and not always dry in UK roads they were really good. Its true on a dry track you probably can get out more from MPSS or GY Asymmetrics but more often than not we have rain, drizzle, muddy roads (at least in Scotland) and I recon the performance of Uniroyals RS3 in such conditions is as good as you can get.

Cheers. I have read alot of RS4 owners have tried the Vred Sessantas and been impressed as well as other mid range tyres like Kumho, Avon, Hankook etc. then I've read most RS4 owners haven't rated the premium brand Pirelli's that came OEM with the car? The RS3 is made by Continental and is an 'A' rated tyre in the wet. The price difference is quite a bit as the cheapest fully fitted F1 Asy 2 near me is another £40 per tyre more expensive than the RS3.s4tronic said:

Thanks mate, Good to know that on a similarly heavy car you have been happy with them. You haven't found the tyres too soft at all have you (in XL) ?I've since found about a small handful of reviews from a few RS4 owners who have run these on my internet search and they concur with you sir, a very good tyre and brilliant in the wet.
I wont ever track the RS. As you mention, for our roads and weather, they do appear to be a good choice. I have run PS2's on my M3 CS which were really good in the dry but not so when it was cold and wet.

Not on an audi but I have the uniroyal RS3 tyres. Excellent tyre, grip is brilliant but I will say the wear rate isnt great but you cant have everything.
They are softer than the norm but I guess that is what gives them good performance. Still excellent excellent tyre for the price.
Thanks for that. Maybe the reviews which sometimes mention soft sidewalls feeling like they are folding on hard/fast cornering need to be taken with a pinch of salt I guess. I don't mind wear rate, ultimately, it sounds like it's got great grip, especially in the wet so a very big plus point in my book.
Thought I'd give my 2 pence on this.
Had rainsports 3s on my rs4 for a couple of months now and can say they are great tyres in terms of grip, especially in the wet.
However in higher speed turns it feels like the car is floating and there is a delay between turning the steering wheel and the car actually moving, it 's a little bit worrying sometimes. The softer wall is definitely noticeable compared to the popular tyres for the rs4. For the price they are fine but I wouldn't buy them again for a heavy car like this.
I had them on my golf and the car felt extremely planted to the road, but it's a lot lighter.
