There was something funny about the edit - you're filming a helicopter about to land in soft snow so suddenly you decide to film the side of your wheelchair for 5 seconds...? Hmm.
I presume the soft snow meant the main wheels sank allowing the tail rotor to strike, and for some political reason it was edited out.
He seemed so cross about it you'd think it was his helicopter.

Like a friend of mine who sometimes shows off by turning his car engine off whilst still moving at c.15mph, then pulling on the handbrake to a fixed detent and seeing if it stops in the right place...
I know little about helicopters but I thought autorotation was only after engine failure, very much an emergency thing.

A hard landing causing the main rotor blades to flex and clip the tail rotor?
The editing did seem a bit odd, but more odd was the fact that the helicopter crew went back to the city to find spare parts to repair it - how on Earth would they do that then? The tail rotor was shredded off, no amount of Russian ingenuity is going to fix that!
It was a good show though, think I missed the first series.

I think it's because someone got in the way of his shot (heli wasn't where it was supposed to be) and then he was getting spattered with tail rotor.Not a bad little programme.
