The cost of design of a new engine and approve for make is maybe 18 months to two years to build and fully be up and running true for full production another two years that's four years and the cost will be escalating all the time that's why i was wondering if the engine is not ready what will they use as the old rover engine is proven and reliable for a V8 for TVR
I thought they were using the Ford Coyote engine?
My RV8 with Mbe gives out 300bhp and drives as smooth as any modern engine and returns almost 30 mpg on steady throttle settings which is very competitive even now but it's not the Engine people will want to pay anything upto 100k for in a new car I'd imagine. And production of the RV8 ceased years ago so who's going to make it for you?
A new car needs a new engine to excite the peeps who are likely to buy it and it will need 400 bhp as that seems to be the starting point for a proper super car these days,,
The RV8 tends to leak a drop of oil so that's another thing people with fancy drives might not appreciate
Bring back the AJP with some big old tweaks is what I say

I once worked with someone who found crack,, it ruins lives, evil drug. Pure adrenalin is what your after so own a Tvr
As I'm not in the market for a new Tvr I don't keep up with development, do we know what engine their proposing to use in the new car?
I'm like a lot of people, somewhat cynical about this new car but I wish them well as I'm sure we all do.
The RV8 might be as old as the hills but it still matches the later Tvr engines on the drag strip!
Is that a controversial statement?
The times don't lie so something must be good about it.

Your right the times don't lie.. That's why the Speed six cars lap the top gear test track about 30mins quicker

Look,,, I'm not stupid you know,, ^^^^ that's had me spitting coffee out my nose,
The extra revs of the later engines are always going to make for a faster track car, less gear changes etc and I'm sure once their opened up they blow off the old RV 8'easily enough but on the roads you speed six guys don't budge from my front end and mines not even that fast. !
AJP I'd imagine ripping us a new anal passage but even then I'm not so sure, by the time you've got the power as the torques crap we've already got where we wanna be.
Pinch of salt here as I'm only havin a bit of fun

I had the not so enviable task of drag racing Mac, decided I'd try and win off the start line as that was my only hope,, it worked, Mac hesitated, he's a nice guy
I gated away and ahead about a yard, for about 5 yards,, then that was the end of that,, I really tried then went and slipped a gear under the pressure, hahahah,, he was miles ahead at the time mind.
Good fun that drag racing, I fancy the guy with the black stockings
That's Luis Suarez on the left as we look ain't it.
