I guess that the release of the Xbox One S with built in UHD drive will have an effect. When they start releasing the cheaper versions, hopefully the standalone players will come down more.

The Panasonic player seems to holding up its price, and a better review pin one site. I hear Sony might be about to do one, would prefer tuners and a hard drive in one box.

I've just bought a 4K TV so I was looking at these. I thought £300+ was a bit expensive and then I read a side-by-side review of the Samsung vs a Panasonic and the Panasonic came out very much on top. The Panny was over £600 though, so no danger of me buying that.

Decided to leave it in the end until prices come down a bit more.

I am going moniter how prices go as more companies launch their players. I have been caught out to many times paying stupid prices just to see them half in a few months

Yeh the games consoles have tended to be good value bluray players. I bought a PS3 slim many years ago when bluray players were still expensive. The PS3 is a bloody good bluray player too.

I'm hoping the next PS4 Neo which has a 4k player will be as good a player as the PS3 is.
