Only dash speakers working with new head unit?!

Hi all,

Ive fitted a Pioneer Bluetooth head unit to my 996.1 as the aftermarket one which was in there was just so old. Problem is I only get sound from the dashboard speakers. The amps working and when I switch the phonos in the back of the head unit around Front to Rear - I get sound from the rear only when plugged into the front output.

I hear that changing radios on the 996 can be a bit of a ball ache, but has anyone come across this issue?

Ive also exchanged out the headunit for a replacement, so its defo not the head units output.

You've probably already checked the Front-Rear balance setting on the head unit? Thought I'd asked, y'know just in case.

Yes fraid so, played and adjusted every single setting on the head unit.

First things first, are you swapping a CR/CDR-22 for aftermarket, or is it already aftermarket that was in there?

In either case, are you using an ISO Connector (i.e. with the 4 x pre-out connectors)?

There's some fiddling you'll need to do to make sure the amp get the appropriate switched feed, otherwise you will only get the minimal sound output.

It had an aftermarket head unit already - but it worked great with all speakers working as they should.

Amp is working as I can unplug the blue remote and all sound goes.

Yes I have the ISO connector which connects to the three coloured blocks from the rear phono sockets of the head unit. Has connection pins to the yellow only.

I doubt it's the rear phono on the head unit as it's the second one - replaced it as thought it was that. I've tried all manner or settings.

I wonder if it needs more than just one of the tri colours?

Clarify the rear outputs
Tri coloured blocks?
Audio should be a white and red pair for front, a white and red pair for rear. Then another pair or single for the sub. Any phono sockets that are yellow are likely to be video.
What sockets has it got exactly? And are u using rca phono leads to take audio to the amp, how many cables, is it a 4 channel amp etc. If it worked before it's likely a simple wiring issue

4 phono sockets out the back for front and rear, this goes to a Porsche adaptor and a big red iso block. Into that go the blue green and yellow little connectors from the car. This only has wires to the yellow block.

Then out of the pin connection on the radio are the blue, black, red, yellow wires which plug into the cars second ISO connector. In this bunch it wires the blue amp remote. There are some purple, black and white cables from that connector to an ISO which can't connect to anything. Is that for data?

I think it's a wiring issue, but rubbish at audio

Do the front and rear phono outs both go to an external 4 channel amp then, is it a Porsche amp thay came with car or a third party amp? At the amp, are there phono plugs going in or is it a proprietary connector?

Its the standard AMP in the frunk. the wires which go to it are on the "iso" (square) connectors. The wires to that are the speaker wires which go to the yellow block which ultimately ends up into the front and rear outputs of the head unit.
