Slightly Misbehaving Engine

A plea to the wise (old?) owls out there. My lovely 98' 5Ltr Chim has started to behave somewhat oddly. Every now and again, for no reason, the engine seems to over rev. This is sometimes at idle and sometimes as I accelerate. More often than not it only lasts a few seconds but thats enough for me to feel anxious.
My question is should I be worried. As I am useless at engine type things if the consenses it needs TLC any ideas on where I should go in the S .Wales area ?

Hi Marc. Erratic idle etc problems are usually easily cured by cleaning the stepper motor.
It's very easy to do and there is a guide here
There are also instructions in the Bible.
Make sure you don't overtighten the motor when replacing it though - it could prove a very costly mistake...

Hmmm... I doubt it, what with me being based in suuny Sussex and all (but you never know!). I served my time in Wales a little while ago (Aber Uni 1997-2000)!
