I'm after a sun cream recommendation to help prevent prickly heat (Miliaria) if possible? I've already got very strong prescription anti-histamines but obviously want to minimise the risk by using the right sun cream. Any suggestions? I used Boots Hypoallergenic last time i was away and it didn't really work as well as i'd hoped. Could do with it not ruining another holiday...

Showering with cool water and using a loofah or similar to ex-foliate are likely to be the best way to manage it.

Prickly heat is often used to describe one of 2 conditions - a sweat rash common in humid conditions, and a sensitivity to UVA portion of sunlight (a condition known as PLE). The latter is more common and occurs in sun exposed areas like the chest, arms, tops of feet etc.

Key is to use high SPF cream with UVA 5 star rating. Min SPF 30 and 5 stars. Apply every 2 hours and try and avoid sun when UVA at highest - twixt 11:30 and 15:00 normally.

Google PLE for more info.

I used to always get this prickle heat rash, drove me insane, even more so as I spend a lot of time in Spain. Last year on recommendation from a pro triathlete. I started to use.

LA Roche-Posay
Laboratorie Dermatologique
Factor 50

It expensive, but just on the areas that you suffer, never had the problem again
