Job offer from well known retailer - advice and info needed

Not hard to guess who they are 
I had an interview with them a number of years ago for an area management role.
It was relatively senior compared with where I was at the time - and the pay was very good.
However, I walked out of the interview. There was an air of taking the piss and a very unprofessional attitude about the whole interview, especially when talking about working hours.
They expected a 5.5 day week at best, at worse it would be 7 days equivalent over 6 days. No amount of money was good enough to do that, so I politely said it wasn't the role for me and walked.
(The only company I've come across that were more unprofessional were a certain frozen foods retailer in Hull... they wanted a stores director, but my interview lasted just 20 minutes, after a 4 hour drive - they wanted someone to blow smoke up their collective arses, rather than someone who would tell them that, frankly, their stores were s
te-holes which needed a serious 'back to basics' approach)

I did, and it was the only interview I've walked out of.
Although the bird related named frozen food retailers were utterly nuts. Whilst I didn't use the words 's
te-hole', I did kind of point out that their stores were like a jumble sale, with the worst standards I'd seen since visiting the "Premier" corner shop, but apparently they didn't want someone who 'hated their business'. The compensation on offer is extremely attractive and they have even guaranteed me a frankly ridiculous (based on my current experience and trajectory) pay increase in year 2.
Essentially I am just looking for anyone's views on working at said retailer, particularly at a more senior level (obviously I am aware working for any major retailer is likely to suck at warehouse/retail store level, although this is pretty much the industry as a whole). I am also looking to get people's views on commuting from N Leeds to the Mansfield area, has anybody done this previously?
The fact you've mentioned Mansfield gives it away who it is. They have perhaps the worst reputation after Amazon for how they treat their staff and the turnover is predictably very high and morale is about as low as it gets. That "extremely attractive offer" will not seem quite so attractive when you realise that they expect you to work 24/7/365 clearing up everyone else's mess. Hateful company. The year 2 pay increase is just pie in the sky because you'll have jacked long before then. You got offered the job because they can't get any other mug to do it for more than 2 mins. Avoid. That reputation is for store workers, not senior people and full-time staff. I think being in a management position there would have been quite nice a year ago, given they paid out £155m to 2,000 members of staff in share bonusesHe was trying to say Sports Direct cleverly. Shirebrook isnt quite just off the motorway and it can be busy trying to get there. It's not that far from j29, but it will be a ballache first thing in the morning. I wouldnt go 28 and over, it'd be worse.
