Emissions Recall - Car feels broken now
Discussion
Hi all,
Apologies if there is a thread running already for this but I couldn't see one, basically I own a 62 plate Tiguan 2.0 TDi and it had its recall fix performed two weeks ago at the VW dealer.
Since then, its been woefully under-powered, feels like its 'missing' on the motorway and nearly stalled today during an emergency stop along with some nasty sounding rattling from what I think is the flywheel.
I'm about to call them and tell them to take another look at it, just wanted to know if anyone else has had the recall done and what it was like after?

On the 170 and 140 2.0 Engines I believe the fix is purely software.
The 1.6 adds a small air flow device in the MAF.
I wouldn't bother getting it done personally if you own effected cars... who cares, and it's not mandatory.
I would take it back to VW if you are unhappy. If it IS software related then flashing it back to the old tune would resolve. Otherwise you can have it remapped elsewhere.

Missus has an newer one, but I've seen comments on a Tiguan forum that there's updated software available.

My last VAG car for a very long time!
I wouldn't get this update done
My Tig is being returned next week for them to take a second look but its making some very worrying noises from the gearbox area and is unable to get up simple motorway slip road inclines without sounding like its slipping and changing gears for no reason.

Everybody knows that the once these cars have been recalled for the "emissions" fix, they will almost certainly feel sluggish & under powered.
Indeed, surely the whole point of the 'cheat' was to allow the car more performance than would otherwise be achieved with the low emissions required for the testing. If the performance could have been maintained as was and the emissions as low as they were claimed/supposed to be then they wouldn't have needed to cheat in the first place.
