Hi All,

Looking to buy a 61 plate e350 convertible.
I have seen a handful of issues regarding rattles from the rear and dash but I assume this is luck of the draw as it could happen in any car. I just want to make sure its not a known issue with the e class coupe/covertibles.

Also further to this I know the e350 of this period had injector issues - the car I am looking at has full MB service history so I assume if it had issues it would have neen picked up by now?

Any advise would be great!

There are MB club specific forums that might be able to give specific info.. However, I don't recall dash rattles being an issue with E class coupes or convertibles. The new C class is a different issue with several reports of creaking interiors.

Are you talking about the 350 diesel? If so, the MB injector issue from a few years ago was related to the 4-cylinder engine, and supposedly fixed by about early 2012.

There were some reports of noisy injectors on some 350 diesels, but fixed, IIRC, by a software update end 2010/early 2011.

If the car's a late 2011 one, it might be the revised/later 265bhp version. I think the change came in with the straight, rather than hockey-stick, DRLs. 265 engines have engine code OM 642LS, earlier ones are OM 642.

Check the roof operation, although no specific faults with them.

Also, check re gearbox fluid change. With later 7g+ box (all of which I think have stop/start) it's every 5 years/75000 miles. Earlier cars have a once-only change at 3 years.

If it's a 350 petrol, I'm not aware of any injector issues and 2011 would post-date the balancer shaft issues.
