Has anyone on here had experience with Hublot watches. I'm not a fan of gaudy watches, but I do like the chunky / sporty nature of the Big Bang Steel 44mm

http://www.hublot.com/en/collection/big-bang/big-b...

I've been reading up about them for a while, but what is the opinion on here? Are they really worth the money or are they considered to be a typical footballers watch?

Thanks smile

Few brands bring out the snob in me, but this is one. Some of the designs are quite nice, but I just couldn't when I can get the classic design Audemars with it's heritage for the same money.

Don't bother.

Spend the money on AP ROO instead.

It may be a watch forum cliche but once you see it you can't unsee it...screw-heads don't line up. Reason enough to leave this one on the shelf.

And why the fk can't they line up the screws nicely? That would do my head in.

Edit.....just seen another poster also has this gripe.

There is a reason AP's have hexagonal screw holes.

As others have said, for a similar price and look go for an AP ROO, at least that's got an in house movement, unlike Hublot (unless they recently started to manufacture their own).

Otherwise what about a JLC Master Compressor? Or a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms?

Well they're not even screws on an AP...it would be impossible to align screws that uniformly on a mass production watch. They're nuts and the screw enters from the back. I'm just quoting the often used cliche that misaligned screws make every OCD muscle in many a watch geek's body twitch uncontrollably. Better to avoid such a thing entirely!

Hublot do have their own movements now – for the past few years, iirc.

Well that's pretty conclusive feedback. I had wondered why weren't many Hublot watches on here and now I know why smile

Had to chuckle then as that's what stopped me buying one.

Completely agree with you. I have an APROO and without the perfectly aligned screw heads I would go nuts.

I'm not sure why the screws not aligning wind people up so much (Pun intended aha). I can see that it would be nice if they did but to me it wouldn't make a huge difference either way - if they all lined up it would just look like a snide.

Sold my Hublot Big Bang Black Magic 44mm for an AP ROO Panda and haven't looked back.

I've never noticed the screws and that's just killed my love for that watch frown

Couldn't agree more with the general opinion on Hublot. Personally I wouldn't waste my money on one. (And they're way over-priced).

Something at this price is (should) be all about finesse, precision and attention to the smallest of details.

It looks slapdash, unrefined and undermines the watch IMO.
