I sold my car stereo on ebay on monday, winner was a new user with no feedback. Was a little wary but thought I would go ahead with the deal. I then received an email letting me know a cheque was in the post. I specifically said "NO PERSONAL CHEQUES". Nonetheless I said I would carry on with the transaction on my terms. All my emails were bounced and I have had no contact with the t
t.
To top it off the bloke I gave a "second chance offer" to said that he doesnt want to spend £80 plus £10 postage on a stereo! Then why the hell did you bid £80 you knob jockey!!!
I now have -ve feedback, very annoyed!

Why have you now ended up with -ve feedback.. ?
Because he reckons he hasnt received any emails from me. I have used his email address and the ebay message system. methinks he wanted to send me a dodgy cheque or something and when he realised that I wasnt about to release the goods till it cleared he scarpered.
Can't file NPB report till the 14th for some reason.
Don't talk to me about numpty sellers!
I had a guy come to buy my Corvette at the weekend. I explained that the car hasn't been restored, lives outside and is driven regularly in all weather. He then argued that the brake calipers weren't new (told him they'd been on for 10 months) becuase they had surface rust. As did the chassis. Hello? The car is 28 year old. The metal is solid with not rot. He didn't seem to appreciate the difference.

What p s me off is sellers who should give positive feedback as soon as your payment has cleared, but wait until you have given them positive feedback.
As a seller, I never give feedback until the buyer does. There is always the one idiot who will give you negative feedback for no good reason, by which time if you'd given him positive feedback, it would be too late.
what email address are you posting from...not an AOL account is it? could be that his spam filter has decided you're spam - probably cos there are words like 'ebay' and 'invoice' in your email. its a vague possibility anyway (happened to me with a seller). So he may genuinely not have got them.
dont see how that relevant if he never sent the cheque he said he was sending though....

I got caught like that. I bought a fancy corkscrew that didn't work. The seller said something to effect that as it was so cheap I couldn't be surprised if it didn't work, and maybe I shouldn't use eBay (my feedback was about 95 at the time
). Eventually she refunded my money and because she had, albeit in bad grace, done this, I said I would give her +ve feedback if she would do the same for me. She was, as you say, one of those sellers that doesn't give feedback until you do, which pisses me off. Anyway, she saw this offer as a 'threat' and after I'd done my side of the deal, negged me, the b1tch. You can say in your advert 'no bidders with less than 5 feedback' etc, and then if some muppet ignores this you can cancel their bid. This certainly helped weed out some chavs when I had my BMW listed.

After you've been left feedback you can "comment" on it though, had issues with some tw@ who faffed so long (deliberately) that it came outside the period where ebay would do anything, completely ignored all my emails after that UNTIL I got one about 2 minutes (I kid you not) after I had left him negative feedback...
Some nobs on there...

I have to agree. When I sell, I usually don't give feedback until the buyer has. The reason for this is that once you have given positive feedback, you then lay yourself at the mercy of an unreasonable buyer who can then make unreasonable demands with the threat of leaving negative feedback.
The other problem is that new ebayers often don't seem to realise just how critical the feedback is. I have had friends who have recieved negative feedback because the buyer decided they didn't like the colour of the item when they got it, or they didn't recieve it for a week, when they seem to expect it pretty much next day.
Ebay need to make it easier for stupid negative feedback to be removed.
I have a positive feedback of over 220, but two negs from idiots. I am paranoid in case I get an idiot buyer in future.
Ebay customer service really needs to be much, much sharper than it is.

Well, I wrote a nice letter to him just now but I cant get his full address from ebay. Did however get his mobile number so have just texted him. He gave up after a day, idiot, he only won the auction at 5pm yesterday and said he doesnt want it at 12 this afternoon. Ben
Bad luck; older and wiser etc. My Beemer 'sold' to a zero-feedback newbie for £1700. Except he never made contact, ever. After a week or so I got his address and phone number (London, Berkshire
) and tried to call. Number unobtainable. I marked him as non-paying bidder (to get my fees back), gave -ve feedback and reported him to eBay as having false details. That worked - he was struck off. Second auction ended on Christmas Eve - bad idea! - and it ddn't reach the reserve. Third auction - bloke came over, agreed to buy it outside eBay for £1800, left a £200 deposit and signed a receipt - then rang me the next day trying to get £300 off. Unfortunately for him I wasn't minded to negotiate: instead of saving £300, he lost £200. Car eventually sold at the fourth attempt for £1400. So I got £1600 in all for it - and shedload of aggro!

Yep - this is the best way. You'll have to be firm on this and keep an eye on the bids as the time runs out and block anything that looks suss. I believe this is the only way to do it?
