1993 Corsa SRI 8v

Recently sold my Focus ST 225 and have replaced it with a runabout.
Wasn't after anything in particular but happened to have a freind who had an Corsa SRI he wanted rid of.
88k mile car first owner up until 2014 and a full vauxhall service history
paid the grand sum of 400 quid!
Plans for this car are just to keep it serviced regularly theres a couple of surface rust patches at the bottom of each wing nothing big though so will be sorting them.
will be getting new shocks and springs and also all new bushes to freshen up the handling.
overall quite impressed nice fun little car to chuck about and the 80bhp is more than enough on the roads round my way to have some fun.

Fantastic to see a Corsa that hasn't been messed with. Looks to be in a very nice condition. Great buy OP! I'd imagine it's great fun being able to wring it pretty much everywhere and stay legal!

and by sort the rust it will all be diy more to just stop the spread along the panel.
They are great little cars, my brother inlaw has one of these in Carabic Blue that used to be mine but the body work is in tired condition, we are putting a C16SE (its the 1600 version of the C14SE 1400 yours has) together for it and then plastidipping it in a similar colour with some Cavalier SRi brakes and fresh suspension all around. I will be putting a readers ride thread up for it when the car comes over to be worked on in a few weeks! Engine is in the workshop on the stand being painted and put together at the moment..
I love it! I had the 16v version in Caribic blue as my first car. The little thing took so much abuse (and may have visited a few hedges too....) and never let me down. Mind you, I'm fond of the old 8v engines though, so simple and tough!
Please keep it mostly standard, I imagine there's only a handful left now!

That's awesome :-) not seen one of these for years! I'd expect there to be very few about in that sort of condition now.
Amazing how going back to an 90's basic light sporty hatch can remind you how much fun driving used to be isn't it! Not to mention the amusement of being able to actually use all of it's performance no matter how modest that may be.
I've been doing something similar with a 1999 Fiesta Zetec over the last year, got it as a cheap runabout but enjoyed driving it so much that I started uprating it but within it's original spec, so no big wheels/brakes, silly exhausts etc, just Bilstein/Eibach suspension, uprated bushes, uprated discs/pads/braided lines, good quality tyres etc. 90bhp is all she has but its a blast to drive!
So I say go for refreshing the suspension etc, it'll increase your enjoyment from the car and I dare say in your case you'll probably get a decent return when you come to sell it.

Great work getting any kind of car for £400 with relatively low mileage and FSH.paid the grand sum of 400 quid!
Car looks great. As others have said, freshen up the suspension etc, but keep the looks standard!

I see your point, but for £200 in bits and a few hours you could have a well sorted little car and have it still owe you less than a grand. Even if the OP only runs around in it for 6 months he'll enjoy it a lot more if the suspension isn't shagged out. Might even get most of the money back at resale with a decent ad and a bit of effort as long as replacement suspension doesn't mean "slammed like a chavmobile".davepoth said:

I learned to drive in that version of Corsa - a 1.5D (no t). No airbags, no ABS, no power steering, and virtually no power.
