Just spotted this on ebay. Thought it may be of interest to anyone with a V6 engine.

It's for the Essex, so no good for the 280i.

Ideal for one of the pre-wedge 3 litres though, if they've got space.

Wouldn't have thought so.
Essex has a carb, and 2.8i has injection.
Totally different motors.

Wouldn't mind a turboed 280i though.

Another difference from Essex to Cologne is that Cologne has siamesed inlet ports. I think it's the rearmost cylinders that share an inlet tract.

Essex breaths properly, I believe it's part of the reason the BTCC racers used the 3 litre Capris for as long as possible.

Just hi-jacking the thread for a moment, will the 2.9 cologne heads fit on a 2.8 cos IIRC theyre not siamesed?
Or do they have larger valves and will clash on the cylinder walls etc etc.

I seem to recall Sven Pruett mentioning something in his book but I havent looked at it for ages cos i cant afford to build an engine to his standards!

Ho hum, will just have to put in a 2.9 lump them...or will the Chevy LS# series fit, as they're slightly smaller than the RV8 (that wont fit in aseries 1 FHC apparently)

The LS2 & 7's look like being beasts!

mmm back tracking slightly the carb manifold will fit a 2.8 and a 2.9 engine ( as fitted to my taz racer)

and isnt it the exhaust thats siameased on the 2.8 not the inlet.

so the inlet side is poobably all the same ... so that manifold and the blower would fit ???

the 2.9 heads dont work as the cam rotates in the opposite direction on the 2.9 you can get them to fit apparently but a ball ache.

the biggest restirction on the 2.8 is apparently the vertical tracts on the inlet manifold, which are two thin to bore out.

The manifold on the 2.8 only has 4 ports under the plenum box, the rear pair of ports split at the base to give the 6 inlet ports.

yeah thats right so the manifold to head interface ( 3 ports ) is the same. so this kit should fit..

the pistons and drive bits would be no use though...
