Timber supplier in Glasgow area
Discussion
Hi all, I'm struggling and know the font of knowledge that is Pistonheads can surely help!
Does anyone know a firm in Glasgow area that would be likely to sell thin strip hardwood, talking a few mm thick at most, about 200mm wide and 1500mm long.
B&Q, Homebase, Wickes etc. either don't sell anything as thin as that, or their thin stripwood is too narrow. It's for an internal door threshold following some alterations where I'm left with a huge gap between two rooms currently where the concrete floor slab is showing!
TIA.

Cheers but I've used them for fencing a few times and anything they stock tends to be far too big in size and softwood - I need something super thin, then hardwood for strength/durability given how thin it will be.bigblock said:
Have you considered using 2mm ply. If it is not going to be hidden by a floor covering you could pick a sheet with a veneer to match the existing wood flooring.
Not very much demand for 2x200x1500 solid hardwood.
I hadn't but I think I'm going to have to consider a veneered product, I know what I'm after doesn't really have a huge market! I could go thicker but then I'd need to plane the bottom of a set of double doors, no big problem but then a thicker strip creates a bit of a step between rooms which I want to avoid. Not very much demand for 2x200x1500 solid hardwood.
Cheers for the responses chaps.
