My background is mountain biking, and have a Cube with hydraulic discs.

Getting into my road bikes, and I've been using a Spec Allez Elite which is OK. But my 16 year old wants to get into road biking.

So thinking of giving him the Spec and buying on our BTW scheme.

So I'd like a road bike with hydraulic discs, for a grand. Ideally it would weigh less than 9kg too.

Does such a bike exist? Or should I wait until next year for some last year bargains?

Jimbo.

Blurb says 8.2 kg built weight and I'm pretty sure they use bike to work scheme.

They do, but:
A) it'll cost you an extra £100 for the privilege
B) it's SRAM hydro brakes, which are always utter bags of wk no matter how you dress them up. I'd rather canti brakes. At least they won't be recalled every 5 minutes.
