Central Locking - Oops!

S0d the Ides of March, Beware the Central Locking!

Driving home from work tonight, went to flash my hazards to acknowledge someone letting me out. Missed and pressed the door lock button instead. No problem. Doors locked light doesn't come on, doesn't work, never has.

Get home, bin men have been. Open door to get out and move bin before I can park the car. Engine still running, close door.

Move bin.

Get to car, press door open - nothing happens. Press again, nothing happens. Remember lock button incident - realise am locked out of car with engine running

Good news, am at home, so spare keys and plip in the car.
Bad news, house key on same keyring as car keys, in the ignition, in the car.
Good news, neighbour has a spare key. Go to get key. Open house and get spare plip.
Bad news, plip appears not to unlock car when ignition on (makes sense since it usually primes the fuel pump at this time). Panic time!
Good news, window is open about an inch.
Bad news, can't reach anything.
Good news, luckily managed to get a stick down to the window down button and finally got in!

All caused much amusement to the neighbours watching me trying to break into my own running car, with the stereo blaring, abandoned in the middle of the cul-de-sac!

Anyway, now that's over, should the central locking not unlock when I open my door such that I can't lock the keys in? Or am I asking too much of Trevor? :P

when i press my button and get out the car, it then unlocks and doesnt lock again until i either press the button or the revs increase to 1600rmp(clifford alarm)

Would have been the only option if the window wasn't open, but didn't really fancy doing it in full view of all the neighbours gawping!

Not having much luck with locks really, after locking my keys in the boot on a track day last year too!

Having said that, if one of the neighbours stole your car you wouldn't have to go far to find it (and once they'd seen the green leather they'd move onto the t350 up the street) .
