Silverstone Classic 2016

Lovely event, lovely weather.
TVR CC had surprisingly large gathering there. But to my disappointment there was one 400 (ish) DHC and one sixpot FHC. Not one 350i.
Do 350i owners hate TVR CC or does TVR CC hate 350i? There were plenty of older TVRs, S-series was well represented, and the usual Sagaris's, Tuscans, Chimaeras and Griffits were there. But no 350i's. And as said, not much Wedge-shaped either.

My take on this is that Wedge owners are usually either working on the cars or driving them. I'm certainly not a serial polisher who goes to shows just to stand around in a field. Plus Silverstone is a pretty rubbish circuit for spectating at. I think the other factor is as you suggested - Wedge owners don't all see the necessity to join the club (although I am a member) and we are perfectly able to organise our own very successful events (BBWF being a prime example) at a national and local level without the club. I think there is a general feeling that the club is not particularly interested in Wedges. TVR CC had surprisingly large gathering there. Isn't it just? Don't get me wrong, I had a good time wandering around looking at all the car club displays but watching the track action was not as much fun as pretty much any other circuit in the UK that I've been to. It's a long time since I'd been to Silverstone and I guess I've been spoiled by Brands Hatch.Worst part of the day? Wandering back to my car to pick up a snack and overhearing a small group of knobs looking at my Chimaera (parked next to a lovely green wedge) remark that all TVRs are "tatty" and "poorly made".
As soon as I can get mine started I'm going hunting for them ;-)

Dark grey/thereabouts Chim with beige interior? Left side of the Wedge, as on the right there was a S-series or something?
Lovely car, nobody should have anything to complain.
EDIT: Of course, nobody should never have anything to complain about other peoples cars in the first place, but even for nitpickers complaining about Yours would be daft.

Having never been to silverstone before, I actually quite enjoyed it. Did you also note the lack of Cerbs as well as wedges, both of which surprised me?
Sadly, I did not come in the TVR as it wasn't quite done. If any one was astute, they may have noticed a 59 F100 at the end of the stand with a very suspision looking TVR entry ticket in the windscreen..... But it did make all the campers happy as I could bring the Fridge, Gazebo, food and every one elses spare gear. Along with being the TAXI to the circuit in the morning!

You have been spoilt by BH Will, when I lived in Surrey for a very short time THANKFULLY, as its far too busy on the roads to drive safely!!!. I was just a short depressing drive down the M25 car park
to reach BH, but I suppose from you getting up too Northamptonshire from Kent would put you off Silverstone, another reason for me leaving Surrey, it was a nightmare to travel anywhere unless you left between the hours of 11pm & 3am!!!Edited by portzi on Monday 8th August 12:37
I thought I saw a Cerb at some point over the weekend, may have been on a different CC site though. Things blur!
Was unusual to see 4 T350T's and no C's though.
Regarding Wedge phobia I understand the driving/fettling and not polishing. I drive a 3000M! Just dissapointing how few Wedges I generally see places.
So this non- Wedge owning TVRCC member would certainly like to see more at general TVR events.

There was a silver Cerb just behind the Lambo tent, but it was part of like "Surrey classic car club" (not that I know, but similar).
There were 2 Cerbs in the compound that I counted apart from this, a red one and a... erm.... can't remember. Perhaps they are rarer than we all think?
