World's top Women vs Stirling Albion.
Discussion
Sorry to be vague on details but a top women's national side ( might have been England) were thrashed recently by a top schoolboy team.
It wasn't fair though.
I imagine the lads would have scored even more if it wasn't for all those sports bra's.edit: here you are, it was the Aussies

Women can't really compete with men in sports that have a physical component.
I think Serena Williams would beat most male tennis club pros. She wouldn't beat a top 100 male player though. But I agree, in football the gulf is huge.
But I kind of think it's a bit of a daft question. It doesn't matter if the women are inferior to the men. In terms of women's football, the England women's team have given us far more excitement and reason for pride than the men.

king thrash Iceland's women, and definitely not concede a goal off a poxy long throw against them.

To be fair, it was the equivalent of Citeh's U15s playing England Women's Team, as opposed to a random school team. I used to play a lot of weekend 5-asides with girls/women. It was never really competitive, just friendly games, with as much show-boating as possible and a lot of drinking afterwards. Technically the girls were very good, a lot better than a lot of the guys and they certainly understood how the game should be played. However, add in a physical element and it would be like playing against pre-pubescent boys. Once you get to a full size pitch, the physical advantage is far, far greater. It would be no contest. The only way you could balance it up would be to have an U25s Women team vs an Over 45s (and overweight and unfit) men's team.It wasn't fair though.

The BBC have seen a fit to really push women's football over the last few years and as a participation sport, it's great and the more people taking part the better. But as a spectator sport it simply doesn't deserve any where near as much coverage as it receives. There are plenty of very skillful players who score a lot of spectacular goals but the defending and especially the goalkeeping is so poor in general, as to make it a proper competitive spectacle IMHO. There is nothing different about the women's game over the men's; it's just inferior.
