Been on the lookout for a used 996 TT for the low £60k, while there's not many around the ones that I can find are usually 3-4 owner cars. I'm not so keen cars with more than 1 previous owner but given that these cars tend to change hands a lot, does it really matter in terms of affecting residuals and saleability.

Spoke to a few OPCs where they will give you the same spiel about how it's the norm to have a 2-3 owner car and how it won't affect prices - what's your experience on buying used with multiple previous owners? I guess at the end of the day, if it's been looked after that the most important thing.

I'd like to stick to my guns and find a 1 owner car but that may take me a while.

It doesn`t matter a Jot. simply go out and get a car in good condition which represents good value for money. Ultimately it is the price you ask for the car when you want to sell on that will determine it`s speed of sale. And don`t forget the premium you may have to pay to get the particular car that happens to have one owner will evaporate the very second you sign the V5 and post it off to DVLA.

The No of owners myth stems from the 1970`s when people bought a car and kept it until it fell apart. Car assembly quality being what it was then one or two (maybe three), duffers managed to sneak out of the factory gates and they were sold quickly by their owners who tired of engines falling out of the car and doors dropping off.

This is the 21st century and people buy cherished plates / move / register their cars in company names / change their car after a year or so.

Don`t put random restrictions on yourself - have a pop at all the cars on the market then the best one.

Good logic but people try to buy with their heads. A car with 5 owners in 6 yrs will put off a significant number of customers. People buying a 911 tend to be fussy / overly fussy.
