Evening all,

So I've had my machine since xmas, but only gets used once on a Sat and Sun am.

I just went to empty the capsules out and noticed all of them are still full and heavy, saturated with water I guess. I'm pretty sure when I first got it they were very light and empty. Any ideas?

In the pics below you can see one empty capsule with the content cut open onto the kitchen unit, a full one, which doesn't look very well pierced and a full one cut open. Suspect the machine isn't piercing properly.

I've reset the machine, run a cleaning cycle multiple times, but it's not helped frown It's under warranty, but would rather avoid the hassle of returning it.

Sorry what do you mean , the used capsules in the bin drawer are full of soggy coffee ?

I thought that was normal , did you expect all the contents to dissolve ?

Yeah exactly. Perhaps it is normal then, been a while since i emptied it, but just didn't seem right to be that heavy.

You can see at the bottom of the picture just how much "coffee" I scooped out a pod.

This isn't instant coffee, which is essentially a powdered 'cordial' which you dilute and drink.

The contents of the capsual is just ground coffee beans, so the hot water just passes through it, leaving the coffee behind. Ground coffee beans won't dissolve in water.

Looks like your machine is working fine!

Great, thanks for confirming! I just wasn't sure, coupled with the fact I felt I wasn't getting the same caffeine kick after 8 months of using it, I thought something may be wrong... guess my body is getting used to it...

Whilst on the subject (kind of), any suggestions on alternative Nespresso pods? Stronger the better smile

All sounds fine to me too. We tried the Cafe Direct ones, but have to admit the Nestlé ones are far superior.

Are you drinking shots, or trying to make big mugs of Americano?

I think I've tried just about all of the pods on the market but none are as good as Nespresso In my opinion.

If you have any doubts over the machine then contact Nespresso Service.

They're very good, and should it need returning they collect and usually give you a loan machine

Looks fine to me.

Regarding the cafine hit, pretty sure that the purple one is decaf. Not sure about the others.

The purple capsule is Arpeggio, if comes in both "caf" and "decaf" ... looks like the "decaf" pods now have a red dot on the base.
