Does number of owners matter when buying used 996?
Discussion
Been searching for a 996 TT around the low £60k but only seem to find cars with 2-3 owners at the very least. Just wanted to know your thoughts as I'm keen to find a 1 owner car. I suppose condition is the most important but I'd like to stick to my guns. Can anyone shed any light whether multiple owner cars are worse off residual wise.
I think Turbo's in particular can have a few owners due to the fact people dont realise just how expensive they can be to run. Comes as quite a shock & people change.
Personally if any car I look at has more than an owner per year I get a little concerned as to why its changed hands so much....maybe a problem with it thats been passed from owner to owner ?
If I was looking at a £60k turbo at around 4 years old then I would like it to have no more than 2 owners myself. You always get asked number of owners when you trade it in so it does have some effect on resale. I mean if you were a buyer & you had 2 apparantly identical cars to choose from, 1 with 5 owners & one with 2 I know which I would choose.

Its par for the course with Porsche motoring-you get excited and buy one and then soon tire of the compromises- or you simply want something new to get the buzz. If the miles and service history stack up then it should be fine. If its done a suspiciously low mileage and has 6 owners then be wary.
