Fake zipp wheels?
Discussion
Hi guys. Just bought a bike that came with what I was told are zipp 404. However I'm dubious. Before I go back to the seller does anyone know if these are genuine?
They have dimples. I can't see a serial. Has a zipp hub (not embossed but printed). Has sapim silver spokes. Can't see anything under the rim tape except a shiny metal rim. Has carbon bits by the hubs.
Are these likely just old wheels or horrible fakes?

As above, they're genuine but from circa 2006-07 you can tell by the early hub end caps, decals and wear markers by the 404 logo.

thanks guys, feeling a little better now
I'm going to put the bike together and take it to my LBS for a once over.
The wheels came on a cyclocross bike and I was thinking of putting these wheels on my other bike (which has American classic 420s on) before selling the AM420s and buying some cheaper wheels to make the new purchase into a cheaper winter trainer with maybe some cyclocross thrown in. Fake wheels would have scuppered my plan!
I bought from ebay and had specifically asked the guy if the wheels were genuine. He told me he bought them from a friend (alarm bells were quietly ringing...) but I took the chance and paid through paypal. I know you don't really have a proper comeback but I would have tried to either return or get some money back if they were dodgy. I'm always sceptical but seems this time I found a decent seller
