94mph.Might just get away with three points and a fine.

Keep your fingers crossed. What did the coppers say who stopped him?

I think the rule of thumb is a ban if you're more than 45% over the limit - 94mph is 35% over so as the other poster commented, your "friend" should be okay.

Marked police car though banghead!

Marked car - what was your "friend" doing before he saw it and slammed the anchors on? ;-)

Was it a stretch of motorway with a 70mph limit? 94 in a 70 would usually be dealt with by a conditional offer issued at the roadside. Did the cop mention why it would be court and not a ticket?

To be fair it's as rare and difficult to believe as seeing aliens. Double take....triple take....No! Surely it can't be! I've
heard of such sightings, but always laughed them off. st! Speed! Oh crap.........

No such rule - of law, of thumb or anything else.

The problem you have is that it was in Scotland and simple speeding cases have been prosecuted as dangerous driving.

Drop onto the Pepipoo forum for more advice re speeding cases in Scotland over 90.

(Fingers crossed it is just speeding though, used to be the case that even at 96 you'd only get 3points)

Done for 93mph in June 2015 near Dunfermline on the A90. 3 points and £100 fine dealt with at the side of the road.

No excuses.

£100 & 3 pts is capped at 95mph in England from my experience.

Got done last year at 96 on M4, was very polite but plod advised that limit at which court is now automatic above 95, FML.

5 pts and £500 fine

Courts have no mystical rules or % figures. PF will have marking guidelines. I'd have thought fixed penalty for this unless your "friend" has previous live points. PF may still make an offer. Otherwise probably in the region of £300 and 3-5 points.
