ZX10R Makes you bad!!
Discussion
Picked it up on March 1st and rode through rain, snow and thick salt to get home.. cleaned it changed my clothes and went out on it again (still raining hard!)...anyway that day I cleaned my bike twice, changed my clothes 3 times and froze both my nuts off all day long in order to get it to the correct mileage for its first service..the first service now done I've started releasing some of the power.. this bike is incredible, yes it does need a steering damper and the standard tyres feel flat & lethargic, but the adrenalin buzz you recieve from this machine can only be compared to knobbing your best mates fit bird while he's asleep on the sofa next to you.. (theoretically speaking ofcourse).
I haven't yet purchased a steering damper so if anyone could recommend one they have used and found to be good, please could you let me know. Thanks

I didn't say it was better than an 03 gixer, but there are differences I was offered an ohlin/rizla/yoshi/powercom'd 04 hybrid and it was extremely rapid and very smooth and looked magnificent but the lights let its down(tested it at night when I do alot of riding in the summer) in my personal opinion the Zx10 just has this aggressive controlable liquid feel about it, I also think the bike is ergonomically just right for me and I love the sleek unfussy looks of the Zx10..
plus I wanted to be a little different as most of the guys I ride out with have gixers..
I would like to say that the Gixer is an excellent bike but under the circumstances I am in many ways including aesthetically, saying that the Zx is the bike for me, I've already ordered a Bsb rear shock and will be having this set up professionally along with a front fork rebuild with upgraded internals.. I will then start thinking about power upgrades.
So in conclusion the whole range of superbikes these days are so powerful and well built that between the thous to any normal person not capable of superhuman bikepowers it really comes down to what you think looks best.
happy riding.

I'm 5'11 and yes you're right the bike looks like my friends 636 with the smaller frontal area, black frame and shorter wheelbase it does look "petit" but if you have the opportunity to test ride one then please do not miss the opportunity as when on board it feels anything but "petit"... rearsets may help sort out the riding position for you being 6'2 ?
I bought some items off a chap that races the ZX10 and he told me he is 6'3 but only 12 stone.. and apparently he did bloody well last season! make of it what you will.. I guess it depends on what kind of riding you intend on doing.. but really the ZX is for one thing only...

FINFAST - I am interested to know about your experience of the ZX10. I am thinking of trading up from my GSXR600 (K2), but am struggling to find a dealer with one that I can try. Obviously I don't want to fork out without trying the bike first, but my initial impressions, just looking and reading about it are that it is a really tidy bit of kit. Some really nice design details too

I've covered over a thousand glorious standard set up miles since picking the bike up in March, and they have been pure joy with a grin factor of 11/10.
But recently I had fitted a penske rear shock by a true "Merlin" aka James of set up engineering he also waved his magic hands over the rest of the bike!! ("This man is a genius") The bike now rides smoother, turns in faster and you can feel each and every ant you give last rights to on your Sunday blast's without the ride being too harsh.
Soon to be fitted is rear sets with upside down gear change & braided hoses although the brakes are more than enough for the road, at the moment.
Engine mods are limited by cash flow but I shall be looking at some pretty trick systems and then having it dyno'd to get the most from the engine which incidently is already "hatori hanzo" smooth.
Anyway I shall post some pictures fairly soon, and yes the styling is awesome and magazine photos don't really do it justice as there are so many small details that make this bike special. Do take a test ride to make sure that you fit on the bike aslong as you do you won't be dissapointed.. then get your card out and place a deposit. I don't work for Kawasaki I'm just really pleased with this particular bike.. Good Luck
