Just thinking about the Dubai incident recently, there seem to be a lot of speculation about this and whether the plane bounced.

Usually some video appears of an actual incident, but seems to be incidental, i.e. spotter, CCTV or something but was thinking it would be useful for the planes to record video and possibly the airfield, a lot of planes seem to have cameras installed anyway and nowadays video recording is cheap so would there be mileage in installing video recording at airports ?

Probably not, but thought it may be an interesting discussion ?

The airline and Boeing and the authorities will know exactly what happened already, I'm not sure what video would add, or do you mean just have some film for the general public to watch?

No, of course not, suppose it would only help armchair experts, guess the FDR, CVR and accounts from hose involved provide everything required, was just a thought !

While useful, it's pretty expensive to get approval for anything going onto an aircraft, plus maintenance etc, so the bean-counters who buy/lease the aircraft are not in a hurry to pay for anything extra that's not absolutely necessary.

For international airports they will probably have pretty comprehensive CCTV coverage of the airfield, but will likely only release it to the relevant authorities rather than to a news channel. And in the recent case you can probably bet on the airport cctv never becoming available in the public domain.
