Satnav on 62 plate 991

Quick question - was just searching to see if I can get the maps updated on a 62 plate 991 Carrera I've just put a deposit on with an OPC. Came across a post or two which seemed to suggest older ones might not take a full postcode?

I'm coming from a 2014 981 which I had from new and did have full postcodes.....

Does anyone know? I did try a brief search on here.

2013 model year came with the 7 digit search, so in theory a 62 might / should have it
if not its about £200 to update (if they're looking after you), price increase a couple of months ago from the £153 offer
is ask the OPC to check / upgrade, depending how friendly they are they might do it for free/ £200 rather than the usual £400

My 991 12 plate has full postcode search - haven't had it from new though so may have been updated during its life.

Really useful guys, thank-you. I've given a grand deposit but signed nothing and I'll be miffed if they don't do it free, I assumed it would be the same as in the '14 Cayman I'm trading in. I'm gonna push them on it.

Also beware older 9x1s don't have the same media functionality, no jukebox until 13MY I think - my 12 doesn't have it if that bothers you. My 13 plate I traded in did.

Ooh the lack of jukebox is a bit of a killer. I never even thought of that. Damn. Wonder what I can do about that? Just use Bluetooth I suppose. I do have the Satnav upgrade by the way.

As it's a hardware issue I don't think there's much you can do but it may be on the car you're looking at - worth checking

Thanks mate. Would it have a USB slot in the glove compartment? Could play from a usb stick with good functionality? Just mailed the dealer to ask him.

I've got a feeling that pre 2013 doesn't have that either!

My 2012 991S which I purchased new only had 5 digits which was hopeless!

I have! Had it a week and love it. It has USB but no jukebox, but with data stick it works great, no different to the jukebox in my Cayman really.

Feels great to get a 911. The Cayman was stunning and not sure a 911 is worth twice the price objectively....but you know when you just have to have something!
