I'm not a regular camper but I use our tent or gazebo as a pits when we're at bike races.
The next race I'm at will be going on until midnight so some form of lighting will be needed for the gazebo and I've no idea what to use.

In the past we've just used a single battery powered lantern and it's been ok but not exactly great when combined with head torches when hunting around for stuff. This time I'm thinking about getting something a bit brighter but I'm not sure what to go for.
The lights will need to be enough to illuminate the inside of a 12x12 Coleman Event Shelter or a 5 man tent. I don't have access to generators so that's out of the question but I do have a T5 which has been converted to a day van. The van has a 110amp leisure battery fitted with a split charge system which is usually used to run a couple of 12v sockets, interior lights and a Waeco CDF fridge.

Could anyone suggest some lights that would work reasonably well from the leisure battery?
They would only need to last approximately 4-5 hours.

Wouldn't a few of these work with some cable ties or tripods?

I know people use the LED strip lights you can get cheap on eBay. You can rig them up just to run off a 9v battery if needed

A couple of good LED Strip lights will be fine - we have blue and white around our awning and the white light it better than the external LED light built into the van.

Not expensive, just look for the brightest LUMENs that you can find - Sainsburys/B+Q etc all have them cheap - 100 or 200 lights, and so low wattage they will not drain the battery.

Have fun!

I've just realised, I removed some of these from the van when I first started converting it and I think they may be in the garage somewhere. Time to have a look and see if I can rig them up to a 9v battery.

Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll have a hunt about and see what I can find.
