Dynamo Vs Alternator
Discussion
I'm wondering what the general opinion is regarding Dynamos? I'll be starting the electrics next on my vixen rebuild and have arrived at the Alternator/Dynamo dilemma! I would like the ammeter to function but am not keen on running heavy cable behind the dash as with some conversions.
I know a lot of people tend to upgrade to alternators, but are there any major benefits to this? Are dynamos particularly troublesome? The car had an alternator fitted when I got it (with the ammeter disconnected) but there was still a regulator bolted to the bulkhead.
Grateful for any advice.
