Hello Gents,

See the attached, currently negotiating to add this Sprite to my collection ... But the boot / fuel filler is incorrect in comparison to the usual.

Does anyone know why or what it could be? Option ... Etc.

Thanks.

Have you checked whether the rear section of the car is replacement GRP?

Nope, not been to view yet as its 5/6 hours away.

Based on the fact it seems the whole rear section comes as one part and the chrome bumper is missing plus it happened prior to the current owner would suggest it's a replacement!

Thanks.

It's 60 years old. ANYTHING could have happened or been done in that time.

I am aware of that, obviously, my question is to those with more knowledge of the marque and model as to whether this is potentially an authentic or genuine option or replacement as per the above post (flush filler for racing).

And not, as I assume, a replica or non-pattern part.

The whole back end looks wrong to me. the lines of the rear wings to center section seem too "deep".
You need more information.

The whole rear panel between the wings slopes downwards far too much. The shouldn't be so much "valley" normally on a frog. Bodged repairs ?
Also, hi Sandy, tried to email you before 😀

Looks odd. Should be flush, like this

Apologies for the rubbish pic, will get a better one Sunday.

Have posted to a frogeye group I'm on.

On the basis that you can't see any seams along the top of the wings nor any rubber seal where the rear number plate lamp plinth is, as said previously, this looks like a fibre glass to me.

looks wrong in many ways to me at the back, have attached a pic of my frogeye's rear.

Could be a fiberglass panel that has been modified?

I did wonder if it was some kind of modified sebring kit. First comment is in from the frogeye group and it said "never seen that before"

I think I'd be finding another personally.

Brilliant, thanks a lot Gents, especially S10 GTA who posted into a specific Frogeye thread for me!!

I have another one to see, has a 1275 Engine in there, probably a 7/10 but worth a look at circa £10k, had a recent (ish) resto, disc brakes and gearbox from a midget though; along with the engine change how detrimental to value is this?

It's quite difficult to buy one ready to use here in Germany with the language barrier ...

Pretty unanimous. Nobody on frogeye pages has seen anything like it before.

This looks OK ...

Missing cold air induction pipe
Potential moisture in the drivers footwell / might be shadow
Slight pitting on rear chrome
Missing front chrome 'bumper'
Boot opening handle looks a different shade of green

ETA; front disks and 1275 engine ...

Good price ...

Leaf green, great colour.

Has a metal bonnet, which is a huge tick.

How can you tell that ?! I was going to ask him ...

Love the red Vs green ... RHD ... VERY limited history, but I love it ...

So based on the photos it looks OK to take a greater interest? It's a 1,400 KM round trip, so would like some opinions before committing ...

Although, Nurburing Sunday so I may stay over and pop in Monday morning!

Thanks again Gents.

Mounting points. Metal bonnets mount like this

Fiberglass open the other way, the mounting point is at the front of the car, like this

Sorry Rich, I realise it does not, poor description on my behalf, the thing that looks like it should open the boot.
