I have a boardman front suspension mountain bike and the disc brakes are rather loud. What causes them to squeal?
Cheers

'Tis the same on my Boardman CX - have reseated the holders, had the pads out and lightly sanded and cleaned them but have yet to take it out to see if any improvement. Have an idea it might be crap pads though?

Most likely crap pads, however a ride on a horrible wet muddy day will sort them as the wet muddy grinding paste that coats everything does a good job of sorting out rubbish brakes.

My Boardman with AVID hydraulic brakes used to squeal loads. Overtime this has lessened. I tried some heavy braking to try to 'bed' the pads into the rotors. This seemed to work well and mine are pretty quiet now....

I have had some recent issues with the front disk binding - which seems to be a feature of the AVID brakes.
