Hi,

Back on 01/04/16 I was caught speeding down a road I drive nearly every day by a mobile van... silly me and all that. The standard letter came through saying was it me, replied saying yes and sent it back ASAP, I was entirely in the wrong so there is no point delaying matters.

2 months after that I get another letter with a picture thius time asking was it me, yes or no, and did I want to go to court, yer or no. You can reply to this online, so I did, saying it was me and no I don't want to go to court, I'm not going to make up some nonsense and make up excuses. Fast forward to Tuesday of this week and I get antoehr letter saying that I need to attend court on 31/10/16 to either plead guilty or not guilty...

What's annoying is that there is a possibility I will get banned, and even if I were to have been banned for 6 months back in April, when I was caught, by October I would be off the ban,

Has anyone else exprienced this?

What speed did you get caught at?

I was always told if your asked to attend court even after pleading guilty they are looking to ban you.

Could be wrong.

50 in a 30 just as it drops down. Normally I jsut let the car roll through and drop the speed that way but it was too late.

I've got no issue with being banned, but I've aknowledged it was me twice, I don't see why I need to tell them a 3rd time. Oh well we shall see!

You can just plead by post surely? They let me do this for 105 in a 70.

I've pleaseded guilty twice already, once online and once by post.

And yes I alsready have 6 points, but as mentioned I thought they could ban me by post too.

You're looking at a 6 month ban.

I suppose time will tell! The ban duration seems to be so few and far between its almost commical. I've read stories of a months ban for huge speeds over and huge bans and bans and fines for not a lot over! Shall see how it goes on the day.

Yes, you could "see how it goes on the day." I'd anticipate badly if you don't deal with this matter carefully.

50/30 is usually too fast for a fixed penalty. Hence, court proceedings have been instituted.

You should deal with the first hearing by post. Hard to tell from your post if the next hearing is the first hearing. You should check.

50/30 is very often 6 points. You have 6 points already, so another six would be a problem - 6 month minimum penalty points disqualification. Potentially better arguing for 5 or fewer points or even a short disqualification.

I have no idea if it is the first hearing or second, I assume this should detail this on the letter? Why is it a 6 month minimum ban? I assume this is from experince going by your username.

You could have included that little detail in your first post.

So you're looking at a likely 6mth totting up ban. I don't know if it's 100% required but normally they want to see you in court if you're going to be banned.

The unfortunate thing is that if you'd been going a bit faster you might have got a short ban and no points for this offence and you'd have stayed on 6 points.

If you don't want to lose your licence then you should probably engage a motoring solicitor.
