Might want to wait until after Sept 7th PS4 Neo
As even if you don't opt for one the price of the standard box will drop. I have a PS4 and gaming PC so can't really comment on the Xbox.

If you've got friends that you want to play online with then go with whatever they have. Otherwise I guess it's down to personal preference/ taste.

I've got both, generally speaking they're basically the same IMO.

If I were to pick just one (ignoring the fact that I've been 100% xbox since I was a youth and all my friends have one) I'd choose the playstation. Mainly because if you buy a physical copy of a game you can whack it in and play, on the xbox you have to wait sometimes hours depending on the game before you can play.

It is this.

Basically, which one do your friends have?

Failing that, well I have a PS4.. But are there any "console specific" games that you really want?

Whatever you're friends have. If you don't know anyone with a console, look at the games and decide which exclusives look the best.

Either console will be brilliant.

I have both, something about the PS4 is just boring and the controller is tiny. Can't put my finger on what it is and it's technically the lesser console but I prefer the Xbox.

Ultimately as above, if you have friends that game buy that one.

I've got both and the Xbox is an enormous waste of time.

The updates, UI, and games available are absolute crap. I use mine for Netflix quite often and even then it manages to fk it up (sometimes asks to sync save game data, which obviously doesnt exist, and crashes the whole thing)

The controller is nice, though.

Just bought an X-Box One after a 2 ish year break from a 360, they seem to have come down in price, I guess due to the new version.

I'm not a gamer anorak so just went for the 500GB one; I went for the X-Box as I've always had them so I just stuck with what I know and I just prefer the range of games available.

xbox one s has about 7% more power and the ability to upscale to 4k I think plus a new design, nothing really exciting

I bought a ps4 recently. I'm actually thinking of going back to a ps3. There aren't enough compelling games and the ps3 is just as good for media consumption.

The vr stuff sounds interesting but I can wait a few more years.

The Last of Us
Fallout 4
Battlefield 4
Far Cry 4
Skyrim

That's a thousand hours of game time there....
